We supply a 0.45 micron water filter with quick connect fittings to be placed by the laser head just before the cooling water enters the laser cavity. Anyone serious about avoiding head rebuilds should utilize this filter to prevent particles from entering the cavity. Any materials in the water (dust, de-ionizer debris, bacteria, and dirt) will fuse with the reflector, flash lamp, and flow cell under the intense optical radiation. This process will accelerate degradation of the optical quality of the components and hasten the need for a head rebuild. The filter should only be used on systems that have a freshly installed de-ionizer and a thoroughly flushed/cleaned coolant system. Poorly maintained coolant systems may contain significant bio-film and other debris that can lead to premature clogging of this filter. The water flow should evaluated every few months by observing significant water movement in the coolant water reservoir and the filter should be changed every year along with the de-ionizer.
